Structural Homogenization

Our homogenization process for generating homogenized material fields for structural material parameters is now also based on machine learing. In a static analysis (thermal shock), a fine PCB mesh with a homogenized material field reduced the computation time by 94% compared to a detailed PCB model where all traces and vias were explicitly modeled. A coarse PCB mesh with a homogenized material field reduced the computation time by 99.3%.
In the animation the color map represents the deformation in the out-of-plane direction of the PCB.
